Kendriya Vidyalaya is the embodiment of the heritage of the past, the prestige of the present and the promise of the future. PM SHRI Kendriaya Vidyalaya No 1 Palakkad is coming under Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and Government of India.
Established in the year 1984, this Kendriya Vidyalaya caters to the educational needs of the children of floating population like the employees of central government offices, defense personnel, ex-service men and other transferable employees liable for frequent transfers.
A well qualified teaching and non-teaching staff makes this Vidyalaya a premier institution in academic excellence and co-curricular activities of this region. Presently the Vidyalaya has got strength of nearly 1865 students and staff strength of 78 including Principal, teaching and non teaching members.

Important milestones of growth

1984-School started functioning. 9.2 Acres of land given by Southern Railways
1986- New building inaugurated
1990- First batch of Higher Secondary Student (Class XI) presented for Higher Secondary Examination CBSE.
1992- 10+2 System started
October 2008- senior secondary Computer Lab inaugurated.

Gradual Year wise expansion

1984- KV No.1 Started functioning – classes up to VI
1985- class VII Started.
1990- First batch of class XI Science stream Started.
1993- XI Commerce Stream Started
1996-Second batch of Class XI Science Started
